Update from The Director of Golf, Stewart Smith

The Member/Member event was a great success. Above are the winners of the inaugural three-day event. We've also added some team members to the club. Here is a bit of information on our new associates.

David Armitage

Profile - David Armitage: David joins the The Renaissance Club from the 'Home of Golf', St. Andrews Links Golf Academy, which is recognized as one of the best golf facilities in the world where David was the Head Golf instructor

While working at the renowned Duke's Course, David completed his professional certification.  In 1999 he became a member of the PGA of Great Britain and Ireland.
David continued to hone his professional golf skills and broadened his service and business experience within the industry as a Golf Professional at Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run located in Kohler, Wisconsin, home to the 2004 PGA Championship and 2020 Ryder Cup.  David was instrumental in improving the golf operation and enhancing the teaching quality at the golf academy there. 
David enrolled and completed his PGA of America certificate becoming the youngest member of both PGA's either side of the Atlantic.  David wants to continue learning to enable him to serve our members in the best possible way keeping at the front of technology and changes within the golf industry.

David also has received certification in the Nicklaus Flick and Ji Kim's teaching philosophy--both of whom are highly ranked by Golf Digest.

Steve Comerford

Profile - Steve Comerford -- Steve, who joins the Renaissance Club outside operations team, is married to Laura and has 2 sons, Ross 12 years and Stephen 35 years, and a daughter Claire 36 years. Steve was a Police Officer (Detective) for 30 years and on retiring from the force took up a position as a property manager with a large Edinburgh property company for five years. Following that, Steve was a claims inspector for several large UK insurance companies up until taking his present position at the club.

Steve has been playing golf since he was a young boy and is presently a member of Musselburgh and Kilspindie Golf Clubs and holds a handicap of 4. Steve has served on the Council at Musselburgh Golf club and has held the position as match secretary and greens conveynor. He has played golf in the following countries; Scotland, England, Wales, Ireland, Spain, Portugal, Greece, USA, Canada, Bahamas and Dominican Republic. Steve's other interests include, collecting golf memorabilia, listening to country music, socialising with friends and enjoying fine wine.

Scott Edmunds

Profile - Scott Edmunds -- Scott has recently joined The Renaissance Club outside operations team. Scott has experience in the US at the Floridian Club in Florida and Diamond Creek in North Carolina. He is a keen golfer and a member at Gullane Golf Club where he plays off a 9 handicap. In his off times Scott has interests in walking along the many scenic paths in the area, reading and cooking. With his experience he will surely be a great benefit for our members and guests.
